We are passionate about creating delicious and healthy meals for children across the country. Helping us to stay ahead of all the guidelines is our talented team of nutritionists.
HEAD OF NUTRITION
Meg is a registered nutritionist and has been with Chartwells since 2012. Meg is responsible for leading the Nutrition team and ensuring we are providing nutritious food to as many children as possible. Meg develops our bespoke Beyond the Kitchen programme which supports teachers in schools and includes unique resources to support schools from a nutrition and education perspective. Meg is also responsible for achieving the commitments of the Chartwells Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
HEAD OF SPECIAL DIETS AND COMPLIANCE
Steph is a registered nutritionist and has been with Chartwells since 2010. Steph is responsible for ensuring we cater for as many children with allergies and intolerances. Steph is passionate about ensuring eveyr child has access to nutritious food, regardless of their allergies, and works very hard to enhance our special diet service. Steph also works closely with key stakeholders to ensure our tasty food offer remains compliant to school food legislation.
PUPIL AND PARENT ENGAGEMENT MANAGER
Emma joined Chartwells in 2015 and is dedicated to the Merton Local Authority contract. Emma supports all schools from a nutrition and education perspective and is responsible for the provision of special diets in the contract. Emma is extremely passionate about school food works closely with the council’s public health professionals to reduce sugar on the menus. Emma has also introduced the Eat Right Stay Bright programme developed by Chartwells which allows her to engage very closely with parents, pupils and schools.
Grace joined the Compass Group UK & Ireland graduate scheme in 2015 and is dedicated to the Entrust partnership in Stafford. Grace supports all schools from a nutrition and education perspective and works closely with the nutrition team developing resources that tie into the National Curriculum. Grace is responsible for managing special diet menus for children with dietary requirements and ensures the schools are compliant to the school food standards and food information regulations.
Olivia is a sports nutritionist and has been with Chartwells since January 2016. Olivia’s main responsibilities include delivering nutrition education to schools in line with the national curriculum and ensuring compliance to school food legislation. Olivia also completes special diet menus for children with dietary requirements and supports Meg in leading with our sports nutrition and performance programme (SNAPP). Olivia’s knowledge of the school meals industry allows her to continue to develop unique initiatives to enable Chartwells to work in partnership with schools, ultimately ensuring every child receives sound nutrition education across the country.
Clare joined Compass Group UK & Ireland in 2014 and when completing the graduate scheme, Clare continued in her central role and took responsibility for food development. Clare delivers nutrition education and supports schools with compliance to the school food standards. Clare visits schools on a daily basis to deliver classroom workshops and spends time with our catering teams delivering training. Clare works closely with our food development team to ensure all new concept are compliant to government legislation and are all in line with the feedback she receives from children at school council meetings when she attends.
Karis joined the Compass Group UK & Ireland graduate scheme in 2016 and is dedicated to the Lewisham contract. Karis believes passionately that healthy eating is delicious, easy and inexpensive and delivers this to school children, parents and the local community with education and hands on cooking sessions. Karis works closely with Public Health to promote Sugar Smart, a campaign to reduce sugar in the diet by raising awareness throughout the community of food content and associated health implications. Karis also manages special diets in Lewisham schools, ensuring every child has access to a nutritious hot meal every day.
