Welsh Assembly Government
School meals by law must meet the Healthy Eating in Schools Measures. These measures are set out by the Welsh Assembly Government to ensure that children’s food should benefit their nutritional needs.
Some of these regulations include:
- 2 portions of fruit and vegetables must be served each day
- Oily fish must be served at least once every 2 weeks
- Deep fried products are not to be served more than twice per week
Chartwells have a team of nutritionists to help ensure that our menus comply with the standards set. They ensure that the menus are nutritionally balanced, which means that the levels of key nutrients, such as zinc & Iron, meet the requirement throughout the school week.
